Our Story

At the Transformation Project, we believe that each individual was created in the image of God and endowed with immeasurable worth. Our desire is for each of them to mature in their Christian faith and live it out in all they do. We believe that there is transformational power in men who become God-fearing fathers, sons, workers and leaders. These men become the fabric of our communities – What a powerful and important role they play. Drug and alcohol abuse too often lead to incarceration or sadly, death, robbing them of their ability to care about anything other than their addiction. This behavior nurtures a point of view that puts the satisfaction of self at the very center of their lives.

The Transformation Project works to proclaim liberty to the captives, offering FREEDOM, HOPE and TRANSFORMATION through Christian discipleship. We seek to develop strong and effective followers of Christ who will become impactful husbands, fathers, sons and leaders, leading to thriving families and communities while advancing the kingdom of God.

As we trust in Him, we will continue to grow and develop our programs and curriculum to offer our participants even more opportunities. We believe developing healthy rhythms of life and strong daily practices will ultimately lead to a deeper union with God and bring lasting transformation into the lives of the men we serve. We will continue to foster a culture of accountability and brotherhood through a stable, encouraging, and purpose centered environment. We will incorporate interactive and experiential activities focused on building relationships and trust, as we challenge these men to discover who God says they are.

God has called us to be His hands and feet. he Transformation Project exists for this very reason:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” Luke4:18-19

The Transformation Project is unique in the Greater Portland area. No other option for sober living offers the benefits of our 40 day program for sobriety and Godly character building. This intensive program uses the time proven benefits of the AA 12 step program and marries it with the building of Godly character. As men extend their time with us in our year long program they build fellowship, community and learn the value of serving one another, the community they live in and their church. They help others who suffer with addiction and re-entry find a new and better way to live.

“His divine power has granted to us all things that per1ain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.  Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.” 2 Peter 1:3-10
